Our signings are just not good enough
Last season we signed Sakho, Valencia, Cresswell, Kouyate and Song who were all key. This season our signings other than Payet really have been poor. Obviously it is very early but Ogbonna hasn't really set the world alight for me other than a good performance at Arsenal. Obiang, I don't think is match fit isn't a patch on Song.

I don't know who and why someone sign a keeper that conceded 8 goals in one game year. #Randolph

Most West Ham fans would say Stewart Downing was one of the best attacking midfielders in the prem last season. Look how many assists and chances he created ... We let him go. He's too good for championship. So that move is all money.

The only class signing we've made is Payet.

It's hard to blame the charimen though, they obviously do work tirelessly, DG is 78 year old man and is hurled alot of abuse on Twitter which isn't fair.

If we had a midfield of Payet, Song, Noble & Ravel Morrison. We'd have a really good season IMO, but the Song deal is off apparently. FFS.

Which Song has not been replaced the before or after Christmas version?

Re: Our signings are just not good enough
The greatest problem is that we haven't replaced Song yet

Next we have been lightweight up front most of last season & have never got round to fully addressing the problem. Obviously, that problem has become even worse since Valencia got injured but it has been a problem since the start of last season

Finally, we need a RB to compete with Jenkinson. If Jenkinson gets injured or gets another ban or two we will be in real trouble

While the Song situation might be down to bad luck, the other two problems are self inflicted

Re: Our signings are just not good enough
After 3 games last season Cressell had cost us against Tottenham.
Downing never played central midfield
Valencia and Sakho hadn't started and we'd only just signed Song
Jenkinson was injured.

It wasn't until September that the players you are saying we signed well and players who performed well actually started playing and performing.

So there's a lesson why you should give these new guys a chance and wait until the window is shut JH!

I think we have made decent signings. Just not enough of them. Yet

Too early to be 100% about the quality of the players we have signed but it does seem that way what is true is that we still need a few better players.

Re: Our signings are just not good enough
Well we need 4 good signings
One of which was supposed to be in by yesterday
We can get deals over the line for some reason
Business first few weeks was impressive so we're capable

Haha - bit before my time, that.

As for Leroy - boots made of gold.

Re: Our signings are just not good enough
Loved Leroy, but he was shit. Remember his debut well. Missed 2 one-on-ones with the keeper, got a third and scuffed it in. Cult status.

Some cunts calling Leroy mediocre/shit

Not having that.

Ha ha.......I have to confess, I didn't see Leroy play live (maybe once or twice).....I seem to remember him not scoring loads, but having a bit of a cult status amonst thesupporters.

Was that for scoring the winner against Arsenal and clumping a Chelsea player?

Re: Our signings are just not good enough
Junior Hammer,

I still remember the days when we would be forever having our best players moved on, then having them replaced with mediocre/or shit players.

I.e Cottee/Mcavennie were sold, then Kelly/Rosenior were brought in.

Thats just one example....there are many more, before and since..

It's early days and we've had bad luck (as usual) with injuries. Fingers crossed we sign a couple more players before the transfer deadline. We will also have the January window to use if were in the shit.

Now is not the time to panic, young man...

one iron 7:24 Thu Aug 27
Re: Our signings are just not good enough
Dont panic, we are 3 players of a top ten team, we have some good young players pushing to get in the side, but no forwards,a forward, res gk, and a winger are needed to push on and the main thing we need the pair of pricks who you all seem to love, need to find some ambition, so that we can see we are going forward not backwards. it always was and will always be about the os with that pair, and a lot of you cant see it.we was a joke what we done in europe, giving it up, and its made the club look like no hopers. why shoud we go we play res teams in both cups, and we dont want europe.gold and sullivan just want 10th place. i go to every match home and away and have done so since 1958. but this pair are pissing me off big time, we want to win not just take part

It's actually pretty easy to blame the Board if they do not provide enough investment for a first time PL Manager to make an impact. We'll see what they've left him with after Tuesday.
